Canine Massage

Why does my dog need massage?

Just like people, dogs of all ages can benefit from massage.  Massage helps to maintain the overall well-being of your four legged companion.  It is a non-invasive and proactive approach that helps every system within your dog’s body to function better.  Above all, massage can help your dog feel more comfortable in their body on an emotional and physical level, so they can enjoy a better quality of life.

What’s the difference between Petting and Massaging a Dog?

Petting involves stroking a dog’s fur and does not involve or engage the soft tissue of a dog’s body.  Massage, however, engages the soft tissue of the dog’s body to stretch and lengthen connective tissue and contracted muscles.  The benefits people experience from massage also applies to our dogs.  Dogs can carry tension in their body just like people do.  Skilled practitioners can easily detect areas of tension in a dog’s body and then use various techniques to help release those tension areas and provide comfort.
